Maintenance Operative

About the Role
We are a well-established estate agency looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team. You will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of our managed residential and commercial properties. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work and can respond efficiently to both planned and reactive maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance across a portfolio of managed properties.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests from tenants and landlords.
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance tasks to keep properties in good condition.
- Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating work.
- Carry out property inspections and report any issues or hazards.
- Liaise professionally with tenants, landlords, and contractors.
- Source materials and manage stock of basic supplies and tools.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Keep accurate records of work completed, including photos and written reports.
- Assist with end-of-tenancy works such as cleaning, minor repairs, and preparation for new tenants.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a general maintenance, trades, or handyman role.
- Competent in a range of practical skills including basic plumbing, carpentry, and decorating and basic electrical works
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Good communication skills with a professional and courteous manner.
- Full UK driving license (essential).
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in the workplace.
- Experience within a property management or estate agency environment is desirable but not essential.
