About the Role
We are looking for a hardworking and dependable Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team at The Navigation Inn, a busy canal-side pub in Wootton Wawen. You will play a vital role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, supporting the chefs with basic food preparation, and ensuring equipment and workstations are always ready. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get into the hospitality industry or build experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and clean all crockery, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils efficiently during service
- Keep all kitchen areas, surfaces, floors, and equipment clean and sanitised to a high standard
- Receive, check, and store deliveries, rotating stock as required
- Empty bins, manage waste and recycling in line with kitchen procedures
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required
- Maintain the cleanliness of storage areas, walk-in fridges, and dry stores
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures at all times
Requirements
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work hard in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene (or willingness to learn)
