Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dog Grooming Assistant to join our vibrant pet care team. This role involves supporting professional groomers in providing high-quality grooming services to dogs of various breeds and sizes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent customer service skills, and the physical capability to handle the demands of the role. Responsibilities
- Assisting groomers with bathing, drying, brushing, and trimming dogs according to specified styles and standards
- Grooming double-coated/deshed dogs independently, without the need for assistance
- Handling dogs safely and compassionately throughout the grooming process
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of grooming tools and work areas
- Supporting with the preparation of grooming stations before appointments
- Ensuring all animals are treated with kindness and patience during their visit
- Helping with general animal care tasks such as feeding or administering medication if required
- Assisting with customer interactions by providing friendly, professional service and answering basic enquiries
Requirements
- At least 6 months to 1 year experience as a bather/prepper/assistant in a dog grooming salon. Ideally would have a level 2 in dog grooming but experience is more important.
- Love of big, hairy dogs!
- Confidence to scissor trim tidy a double coated dog
- Genuine passion for animals and a caring attitude towards pets and their owners
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as lifting large dogs or equipment
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanour
- Willingness to learn grooming techniques and animal care procedures
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Hours:
We are looking for someone part time initially ( 2 days) with the possibility to add more hours depending on performance.
