We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our Supported Living team in New Malden. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality care while supporting and leading a team of Support Workers.
The Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and other complex support requirements.
You will lead by example, providing day-to-day guidance to Support Workers, promoting best practice and ensuring that every individual receives high-quality support that maximises their independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality person-centred support in accordance with individual support plans.
Support individuals to develop independent living skills, including cooking, budgeting, shopping, medication management and maintaining their home.
Promote dignity, respect, choice, rights and independence at all times.
Administer, record and monitor medication in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Act as a role model and mentor to Support Workers.
Supervise and support staff during shifts, ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
Conduct shift handovers and maintain accurate daily records and reports.
Report safeguarding concerns, incidents and accidents promptly and appropriately.
Liaise effectively with families, healthcare professionals, social workers and other stakeholders.
Assist with risk assessments, care planning and reviewing support plans.
Support with induction and on-the-job training of new staff.
Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, company policies and health and safety requirements.
Participate in the on-call rota where required.
Promote community participation, social inclusion and meaningful activities for the people we support.
Essential Requirements
Minimum of 2 years' experience working within Health & Social Care.
Previous experience working in a Supported Living or Learning Disability service.
Experience supervising or leading a team.
NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards it.
Good knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care and positive behaviour support.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Competent with record keeping and care documentation.
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
NVQ Level 4 or Level 5 in Health & Social Care.
Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, mental health or complex needs.
Medication administration training.
Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not essential).
Knowledge of CQC Fundamental Standards.
Pay: £25,420.00-£37,131.39 per year
