Job Summary
The Working Level III – Acid Etch acts on behalf of the company in matters regarding the Etch qualification and certification process, and the technical supervision of Etch inspection processes. The Working Level III – Acid Etch shall be certified as an EN4179/NAS410 Level III in at least one or more Etch methods and shall have a thorough knowledge of the written instructions, codes, specifications and standards used by Forged Solutions Group.
Key Objectives of the Role

Having the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the Etch method(s) and evaluating and documenting process changes and obtaining customer approval, when required.

Assuming technical responsibility for the Etch facility and staff, including customer contract review.

Identifying opportunities to utilise new/improved technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy of Etch inspection.

Ensuring that all necessary calibrations and procedures are up to date with current Etch method requirements.

Supporting production with any technical issues related to the process and provide a point of contact responsibility for customers regarding product issues and concerns.

Selecting and effectively implementing the method and technique for a specific inspection

Implement customer requirements into company procedures or work instructions and assure that sample frequencies are correct.

Preparing and verifying the technical adequacy of procedures and work instructions, including development, approval and continuous improvement.

The technical content and criteria for training of Etch personnel.

Providing or directing training, examination and certification of personnel.

Conduct Etch for the acceptance of parts and document results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability was included in the practical examination.

Performing annual reviews/spot checks of Level I and Level II personnel.

Performing over-inspection of hardware as directed by the cognisant engineering facility.

Determining the proficiency of each Etch candidate for Level I and Level II certification.

Perform or delegate qualification and requalification of the Level I and Level II personnel as applicable, in accordance with this written practice.

Notify customers of all major changes to the Etch quality system, including Etch equipment and location of Etch equipment.

The performance of an annual audit of each Etch system and document results, using a comprehensive internal or NADCAP checklist.

Auditing FSDD sub-contract Etch suppliers to ensure compliance to the relevant requirements.

Mastering test samples for use in FSDD practical exams.

Undertaking supplier audits and identification of new suppliers as relevant.

Carry out Acid Etch, window polishing and macro and micro inspection tasks as operational Level II in approved methods where business requirements identify a need.
