Percy Doughty has an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a Stone workshop/Construction Assistant to join our team at our Head Office in Farnworth.
We are looking to recruit a motivated, hands-on, and quality-driven assistant to support the day-to-day operations involved in manufacturing fireplace stone products. These include items such as hearths, chambers, slips, bricks, back panels, and other masonry components. While previous experience in a workshop or construction environment would be advantageous, it is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience of working in a workshop environment and/ or construction business is preferable but not essential
- Willingness to learn and quickly pick up new skills taught is essential for this role.
- Working to deadlines is essential. Must be able to prioritise workload and adapt positively and efficiently to last minute changes
- Good level of fitness is needed as the job will involve some lifting and manual handling
- Ability to inspect own work and demonstrate honesty to report any quality issues
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- Very strong eye for detail, to finish parts to an immaculate standard
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime when required.
- Team player who is also able to work on own initiative
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Keeping the warehouse and construction sites clean & safe
- Manufacturing hearths, chambers and slip sets
- Cutting Glass and Bricks
- General on-site laboring assistance
- Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations at all times
Role Parameters
Department: Workshop
Reporting to: Workshop Supervisor
Location: Farnworth/Bolton
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8;30am – 5pm, Fridays 08:30am – 4pm with additional hours as reasonably required to excel within the role.
