We are looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Dental Nurse to join our growing practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills who is passionate about supporting their team, maintaining high clinical standards and helping drive the practice forward.
As Lead Dental Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day nursing team, ensuring compliance with practice protocols and supporting the Practice Management team with the smooth running of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and support the dental nursing team.
- Induct, mentor and train new trainee dental nurses.
- Carry out regular competency checks and provide ongoing coaching.
- Oversee the in-house decontamination room, ensuring HTM 01-05 compliance.
- Monitor and maintain surgery logs, decontamination records and compliance documentation.
- Complete regular in-house clinical and compliance audits.
- Manage stock levels and place orders to ensure surgeries remain fully equipped.
- Support clinicians to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
- Assist with payment plans and patient queries where required.
- Report regularly to the Practice Manager/Management team on staffing, compliance and operational matters.
- Ensure all GDC, CQC/HIW and practice policies are followed.
- Promote excellent teamwork, communication and a positive working environment.
- Support with daily organisation of surgeries and staff rotas where required.
Essential Requirements
- GDC Registered Dental Nurse.
- National Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years' UK dental nursing experience.
- Previous leadership or senior dental nursing experience preferred.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of HTM 01-05 and cross-infection control.
- Experience carrying out audits and maintaining compliance records.
- Confident using dental practice management software (Dentally experience desirable).
- A proactive, approachable and supportive leadership style.
- Right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship).
