Factory Cleaner / Handyperson

Hourly Rate: £14.28 an hour/ £29,702.40 per annum
Haslingden Manufacturing is looking for a reliable and hardworking Factory Cleaner / Handyperson to help maintain our manufacturing facility to the highest standards. This is a varied, hands-on role combining industrial cleaning, painting, basic maintenance, and general site upkeep.
You will play a key role in ensuring our factory remains clean, safe, organised, and operational, supporting production teams and contributing to a positive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Maintain excellent cleanliness standards across factory floors, production areas, warehouses, welfare facilities, and external site areas.
- Carry out sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, floor scrubbing, and waste disposal activities.
- Ensure walkways, workstations, and operational areas are clean, organised, and free from hazards.
- Support site housekeeping initiatives and 6S workplace standards.
Maintenance & Painting
- Carry out painting and touch-up work on floors, walls, safety markings, machinery guards, and factory fixtures.
- Perform general building maintenance including minor repairs, adjustments, weeding, and upkeep of site facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections and report defects, hazards, and maintenance requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all Health & Safety, Environmental, COSHH, and PPE requirements.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment, maintenance tools, and mobile access platforms.
- Assist with gritting external walkways during adverse weather conditions.
- Help maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment.
Operational Support
- Work closely with production, engineering, and warehouse teams.
- Assist with factory improvement projects and workplace organisation initiatives.
- Support the movement of equipment and materials when required.
- Ensure cleaning and maintenance activities minimise disruption to production operations.

- Previous experience within a manufacturing, industrial cleaning, facilities, or maintenance environment.
- Basic painting and general maintenance skills.
- Understanding of Health & Safety and housekeeping standards in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience using cleaning equipment and maintenance tools.
