Solicitor (Highways and Public Right of Ways work)
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
Contract: Temporary (ASAP – 3+ Months)
We're recruiting a Solicitor to join the Council. The position has a predominant focus on Highways and Public Rights of Way (PROW) work and includes supporting the development and supervision of two paralegals within the team. Knowledge and some experience of county Planning matters would be desirable but not essential.
About the Role:
As a Solicitor, you'll be capable of picking up a busy caseload from the outset, comprising routine business-as-usual matters alongside complex, politically sensitive and contentious cases, and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Manage a busy caseload from the outset, including routine business-as-usual matters and complex, politically sensitive, and contentious cases.
- Provide independent legal advice and representation with minimal supervision.
- Support and supervise two paralegals, contributing to their professional development.
- Advise on Highways and PROW matters, with potential involvement in Planning issues.
Requirements:
- Current practising certificate as a Solicitor or Barrister.
- Demonstrable experience of working within a local authority, or advising local authorities in private practice.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload effectively.
- Knowledge and some experience of county Planning matters. (Desirable)
