Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener/Landscaper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to creating beautiful outdoor spaces. This role offers an opportunity to work outdoors in various environments, applying your gardening expertise to enhance the aesthetic appeal of residential and commercial properties. The position involves working with a range of tools and techniques to maintain and develop landscapes, ensuring they remain healthy, vibrant, and visually appealing.
Duties
- Use hand tools such as secateurs, spades, and rakes to prune, plant, and maintain gardens.
- Operate power tools including lawn moppers, hedge trimmers, and blowers for efficient landscape upkeep.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns.
- Carry out landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, fertilising, and mulching.
- Assist with planting new flora, including trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.
- Monitor plant health and growth; identify pests or diseases and take appropriate action.
- Maintain equipment in good working order through regular cleaning and servicing.
- Collaborate with clients or team members to plan landscape designs or improvements.
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times during outdoor work.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems used in landscaping.
- Growing experience with plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, and turf management.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices including soil preparation, fertilisation, pruning, and pest control.
- Ability to operate various gardening machinery safely and efficiently.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions.
- A valid driver’s licence is preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
