Job Summary
Walter Bailey (Par) Ltd is looking for a motivated, hardworking, and friendly individual to join our retail team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent customer service skills who enjoys working in a busy, family-run business. We're looking for someone who has a positive attitude, a good sense of humour, excellent communication skills, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
Hours: 35-45 hours per week
- Monday to Friday: Between 8:30am and 5:00pm
- Regular Saturdays: 7:30am to 12:00pm (rota’s are organised in advance)
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing excellent customer service and operating electronic tills
- Assisting customers and loading purchases into vehicles
- Unpacking and checking deliveries
- Rotating stock
- Merchandising products and creating attractive seasonal displays
- Answering telephone enquiries
- Keeping both retail and storage areas clean, tidy, and well organised
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous retail or customer service experience (preferred but not essential)
- Be friendly, approachable, and professional
- Have good communication skills
- Knowledge of equine, farming or pets would be an advantage but not essential
- Be able to work on their own initiative as well as within a team
- Be self-motivated and able to stay productive throughout the working day without constant supervision
- Be able to follow instructions carefully and work to established procedures
- Be comfortable working on their feet for most of the day in a physically active role
- Be physically capable of lifting items weighing up to 20kg (manual handling training will be provided)
This is a hands-on role in a busy retail environment, so you'll need to enjoy keeping active, be willing to turn your hand to a variety of tasks and take pride in maintaining high standards throughout the day.
