We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of facilities management services across a varying client portfolio.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all services are planned and delivered safely, efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with contractual requirements. You will lead operational teams, monitor performance, control costs, and drive continuous improvement across the business.
This is a hands-on management role requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of facilities management operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day delivery of facilities management services
Planning of engineers schedules - maximising productivity
Ensure all contractual service levels, KPIs, SLAs, and client requirements are consistently achieved.
Manage and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, compliance, and other FM services as required.
Contribute to the development and implementation of effective operational processes and procedures.
Monitor service delivery and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Respond promptly and effectively to operational issues, incidents, and client concerns.
Team Leadership
Lead, manage, and motivate operational team of multi-skilled engineers
Set clear objectives and performance standards for employees and subcontractors.
Identify training and development requirements and support employee progression.
Manage attendance, performance, conduct, and employee relations in accordance with company policies.
Promote a positive culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders - including a team of Contract Managers
Support contract mobilisation, renewals, extensions, and business development opportunities where required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all operations comply with relevant health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards.
Maintain oversight of statutory compliance, risk assessments, method statements, audits, and inspections.
Ensure all planned preventative maintenance and statutory testing is completed on time.
Performance & Reporting
Monitor operational KPIs, SLAs, customer satisfaction, response times, compliance, and other relevant metrics.
Produce regular management reports and performance updates.
Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Implement corrective and preventative actions where performance falls below required standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the contracts and wider business.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience in an Operations Manager, or similar FM role.
Strong understanding of facilities management and service delivery.
Experience managing a team of engineers
Strong understanding of health & safety and facilities compliance requirements.
Experience managing suppliers, subcontractors, and operational costs.
Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple operational requirements simultaneously.
Experience with CAFM systems and facilities management software.
Desirable
Relevant facilities management qualification such as IWFM or equivalent.
NEBOSH, IOSH, or other relevant health & safety qualification.
Experience managing hard FM services.
