About Building Ventilation Solutions (BVS)
Building Ventilation Solutions Ltd is a fast-growing, family-run HVAC engineering company specialising in air handling unit (AHU) refurbishment, ventilation upgrades, controls work, and bespoke AHU manufacture across the UK. We operate across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, leisure, retail, commercial, and industrial environments.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, practically minded individual to join our growing team as a Junior Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys hands-on work, is eager to learn, and wants to build a long-term career in building services engineering. Full training and mentoring will be provided from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend sites alongside senior engineers to carry out diagnostic work and identify system issues
- Assist with fan retrofits, AHU refurbishments, and system upgrades
- Produce clear and accurate site reports
- Safely use power tools for removal and installation of systems, under supervision
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site rules, risk assessments, and company procedures
- Assist with unwiring of existing AHU system components and wiring of new components
- Keep working areas safe, tidy, and presentable
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Travel to sites across the UK (occasional overnight stays required)
What We're Looking For
- Up to 1 year’s experience in a mechanical, electrical, engineering, or trades environment, or a relevant qualification / apprenticeship
- Practical, hands-on mindset with a common-sense approach
- Good understanding of electrical systems and basic safe working practices
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Good understanding of maths, physics, and English
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills, with confidence speaking to clients on site
- Self-motivated, organised, and reliable
- Meets physical requirements: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting 50 lbs. or more
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience working on-site in building services, HVAC, or a related field
- Awareness of ventilation systems or air handling units
- Engineering qualification, trade school diploma, or apprenticeship background
