Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Science Manufacturing or Pharmacy Technician with an interest in training and development to join our team in the Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit. In this role, you will support the learning and development of trainees and apprentices, helping them gain the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to work effectively within a regulated, GMP-compliant environment.

This is an exciting time to join us as we are part of a national programme to transform aseptic services in England, with the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) identified as one of England's pathfinder sites. Our team is expanding to support the development of a new Aseptic Hub to manufacture injectable medicines for the WYAAT collaborative, with hospitals across the region working together to deliver the best possible care for patients.

Applicants must hold either a Level 3 Science Manufacturing qualification or an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) and be registered, or eligible to register, with the GPhC, Science Council or equivalent body. Previous aseptic experience is essential for this post.

The post will be based at Moor House, Moor Road, Leeds, LS10 2JQ

What you will bring to the role

You will support the identification of training and development needs, maintain accurate competency-based training records, and assist in ensuring training activities are delivered in line with departmental and regulatory requirements. Through mentoring, coaching and regular feedback, you will provide support to all learners including Level 2 and Level 3 apprentices, and Trainee Pharmaceutical Scientists (STPs), helping them progress towards their learning objectives and professional goals.

Working closely with colleagues, you will contribute to the development and delivery of training materials, assist with the recruitment and induction of new staff, and help promote a positive learning environment that encourages continuous professional development and high standards of practice.

To maintain and develop operational competency, you will provide support to the service when required, contributing to the day-to-day activities of the unit and undertaking accuracy checking of medicines. This will ensure you remain up to date with departmental processes and practices while supporting the wider team during periods of service need.

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the development of others. The successful candidate will be able to balance training responsibilities with service priorities and demonstrate a passion for learning, quality and patient care.

The post is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, to be worked flexibly over a 4-day working week (Monday - Friday) but the post holder must work until 7pm as part of some of the shifts. You will also be expected to participate in a Bank Holiday and Weekend rota.
