NOW Education are currently working in collaboration with a mainstream school in Birmingham that is looking to secure an experienced full-time SEND Teacher to lead provision within their Enhanced Learning Provision, the Discovery Hub, from the end of June.
Our client is a welcoming and supportive mainstream school with a strong focus on inclusion and supporting pupils with additional learning needs. The school has created a positive community where staff wellbeing is prioritised and promoted, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will lead provision within the Discovery Hub, which currently supports 5 high-needs pupils alongside 2 additional support staff. The school is seeking a highly trained and experienced SEND Teacher with knowledge and experience of specialist approaches such as Intensive Interaction, Bucket Time and other communication and engagement strategies that support pupils with complex needs.
The role will involve planning and delivering engaging, differentiated and multi-sensory learning opportunities, while promoting independence, positive learning behaviours and pupil progress. The successful teacher will work closely with support staff and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the highest standard of support and education.
This position is due to start from the end of June and there is strong potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate, particularly as the school currently has an application in progress with the Local Authority to open a specialist resource base.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold QTS
- Have significant SEND teaching experience
- Have experience supporting pupils with complex and high-needs SEND
- Be trained or experienced in approaches such as Intensive Interaction and Bucket Time
- Have consistently high expectations and promote pupil independence
- Be able to plan and deliver engaging multi-sensory lessons
- Extend communication, reading, writing and mathematics skills
- Encourage creativity and engagement
- Monitor and assess pupil progress effectively
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Promote positive learning attitudes and behaviours
- Have strong behaviour management skills within a mainstream setting
