General Assistant – Immediate Start at The Sun, Coniston, Lake District
We are looking for friendly, reliable people to join our team as General Assistants, with an immediate start.
We have both full-time and part-time positions available. These roles could be permanent or ideal for someone looking for work until January.
Please note: This is a live-out position only, so applicants must be able to commute to Coniston.
About Us
The Sun is a traditional pub in the heart of Coniston, serving 8 real ales, quality wines, and excellent locally sourced food. We are a friendly, supportive team, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District, with the lake, mountains and Grizedale Forest all on our doorstep.
The Role
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. Duties include:
- Bar work
- Waiting on tables
- Housekeeping
- A small amount of kitchen porter (KP) duties when required
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, reliable, honest and mature
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Hardworking with a positive attitude
- Flexible and willing to help across different areas of the business
- Able to commute to Coniston for shifts
As we are in a rural location, a fuel allowance is available for successful applicants who travel to work by car, helping to offset commuting costs.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a bar or hospitality environment would be an advantage, but full training will be provided
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices (preferred)
- Basic maths skills for handling payments
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Confidence in upselling to enhance the customer experience
