Our services are delivered with compassion, dignity, empathy, and professionalism, in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.In addition, our Mental Health Transport Team provides secure patient transport services both locally and nationwide. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage the control room systems to coordinate patient transport services efficiently.
- Accurately input patient information, risk assessments, and any additional requirements into relevant systems.
- Communicate essential journey and patient information to operational ambulance crews.
- Liaise professionally with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders to ensure the safe planning and delivery of patient transport.
- Undertake hands-on secure Mental Health Transport duties as part of the operational team, providing safe, compassionate, and professional support to patients during transportation locally and nationwide.
- Escort and support patients with varying mental health needs, ensuring their dignity, welfare, and safety are maintained throughout each journey.
- Apply dynamic risk assessments and follow established procedures to manage and respond appropriately to patient needs and challenging situations.
- Support Mental Health Transport operations.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times.
- Completing and maintaining rotas for all crews including covering shifts when required throughout the working day in a timely and effective way.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, making informed and timely decisions when required.
Shift PatternThis position operates on a rolling 4 on, 4 off rota:
- 4 shifts: 07:00 – 19:00 (Control Desk)
- 4 days off
- 4 shifts: 14:00 – 02:00 (Hands on Mental Health Transport)
- 4 days off
- 4 shifts: 19:00 – 07:00 (Control Desk)
- Repeat cycle
Essential Skills and Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a professional telephone manner.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to learn and use bespoke databases and software applications.
- Ability to work independently using initiative while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- A calm and professional approach when working under pressure.
- A genuine interest in Mental Health Services and a commitment to developing knowledge and skills within this area.
- A people-centred approach with a willingness to undertake further training and professional development.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a call centre, control room, customer service, or other customer-facing role.
- Experience in support work or direct face-to-face care environments.
- Good geographical knowledge of the local and surrounding areas.
- Full, clean UK manual driving licence held for a minimum of two years.
