Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to provide overnight support within a care home environment. This role involves caring for residents during the night shift, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The position is part-time, working three nights per week from 19:00 to 12:00, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents' lives while maintaining a flexible schedule.
Duties
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, and mobility support during night hours
- Monitor residents’ health and well-being throughout the shift, reporting any concerns to senior staff
- Follow individual care plans accurately to meet each resident’s specific needs
- Ensure the safety and comfort of residents by maintaining a clean and secure environment
- Support residents with medication reminders as per care plans (training provided if necessary)
- Document observations and incidents clearly and accurately in accordance with organisational procedures
- Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery
- Assist with light domestic duties such as tidying communal areas and changing bedding when required
Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a care home or home care setting is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for roles involving community visits or errands
- Good understanding of care plans and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, for effective communication with residents and team members
- Basic IT skills for documentation and reporting purposes
- Excellent communication skills with a caring and empathetic approach towards residents
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of care
