Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, trauma-informed emotional and academic support to children and young people with complex needs (including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and those who have experienced significant trauma), helping them to regulate, re-engage with learning, and make measurable progress in a therapeutic alternative provision setting.
About Exceed
Exceed is a therapeutic alternative provision based in a beautiful woodland setting and is part of Calcot Services for Children. Originally established to support children and young people from our residential homes who had no access to education, been excluded from, or were not engaging with, mainstream education, we now provide a broader range of support. Our services have grown to include therapeutic outdoor, vocational and academic learning experiences for young people from both our homes and schools.
We work with children and young people from the age of 5 to 25 who have often experienced significant Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and present with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Many are disengaged from traditional learning environments and benefit from our highly personalised, nurturing, and trauma-informed approach.
Our staff are trained to support learners with a wide range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Where appropriate, we work closely with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to guide our practice and ensure each child’s individual learning and wellbeing needs are fully met.
Exceed offers a safe, creative, and relationship-based environment where young people can rebuild confidence, develop trust in adults, and re-engage in learning at a pace that suits their needs. We prioritise emotional wellbeing, regulation, and resilience through outdoor education, therapeutic mentoring, and structured support tailored to each learner.
