Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Injection Moulding Setter to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and processing injection moulding orders, ensuring machines are correctly prepared and products are manufactured safely and to specification.
The role is suited to someone with previous plastics manufacturing experience who is confident setting injection moulding machines, troubleshooting process issues and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieve and install prepared moulds into injection moulding presses.
- Secure moulds and associated ancillary equipment correctly.
- Load materials into machine hoppers.
- Set machine operating parameters for new moulds and establish suitable processes.
- Sample moulds and inspect sample parts against required specifications.
- Record process specifications accurately on setting sheets.
- Set production moulds using established setting sheets.
- Monitor the process and ensure parts are produced to specification.
- Troubleshoot and correct injection moulding process issues.
- Remove moulds from presses and prepare them for disassembly.
- Purge machine barrels of remaining material at the end of production runs.
- Carry out basic checks and adjustments to maintain efficient production.
- Maintain accurate production and setting records.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area.
- Follow all company quality, Health & Safety and operational procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and individual performance.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous Injection Moulding Setting experience within a plastics manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience of machine setup and processing.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve injection moulding process issues.
- Ability to safely use hand-held and stationary power tools.
- Comfortable working safely with heavy and sharp materials.
- Ability to use basic measuring equipment, including scales, calipers and dial indicators.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and understand written and computer-based instructions.
- Basic numerical and arithmetic skills.
- Good understanding of manufacturing Health & Safety requirements.
Desirable
- Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks or overhead cranes/hoists.
- Experience working with aluminium moulds.
- Relevant plastics or injection moulding qualifications.
