Job Specification
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our purchase ledger, ensuring accurate financial records and processing invoices in a timely manner.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Print and match supplier invoices to delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Verify that all invoices are properly authorised.
- Ensure all invoices, including overhead invoices, are correctly coded for nominal ledger, cost centre and VAT purposes.
- Post supplier invoices onto the Sage system.
- Liaise with purchasing, other departments and suppliers to resolve invoice queries efficiently.
- Maintain the invoice query log and ensure queries are resolved promptly.
- Produce a weekly list of suggested payments for authorisation, taking into consideration payment terms and due dates.
- Reconcile utility accounts with suppliers.
- Reconcile supplier statements and ensure all relevant invoices are posted and included before the month-end deadline.
- Generate a monthly report for month-end accruals.
- Process expenses and company credit card transactions.
- Set up and maintain supplier account information.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency within the accounts payable function.
- Assist with monthly stock costing.
- Assist with general office administration duties.
Requirements
- AAT level 3 or qualified by experience.
- Strong IT skills, including competence in Microsoft Office and experience using accounting software.
- Experience supporting month-end processes.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.

Pay: £32,000.00 per year
