About Oakbrook
Oakbrook is an established contractor delivering landscaping, fencing, arboriculture and external works for commercial, public sector and private clients across the region.
We are looking for an experienced Landscaping Team Leader to join our team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of a wide range of hard landscaping, soft landscaping and fencing projects.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work, can lead a small team confidently and is capable of taking ownership of projects from arrival on site through to completion.
For the right person, there will be opportunities to develop further within Oakbrook and take on increased responsibility as our landscaping operations continue to grow.
The Role
As Landscaping Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a small site team and ensuring landscaping and fencing projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time and to a consistently high standard.
The role will involve a varied mix of hard landscaping, soft landscaping and fencing works across commercial and development sites.
You will work closely with our Contracts and Operations teams while taking day-to-day responsibility for the organisation, quality and productivity of works on site.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supervising a small landscaping team on site
- Delivering and supervising hard landscaping works
- Installing paving, kerbs, edging and other hard landscape features
- Preparing ground and sub-bases for hard landscaping works
- Completing drainage and associated groundwork where required
- Constructing timber features, raised beds and other landscape structures
- Delivering soft landscaping projects including tree, shrub and hedge planting
- Woodland and large-scale planting schemes
- Turfing and seeding
- Soil preparation, cultivation and final landscaping works
- Delivering and supervising a range of fencing installations
- Post and rail fencing
- Agricultural and stock fencing
- Close-board and timber fencing
- Gates and associated fencing works
- Setting out works accurately from drawings, specifications and site plans
- Organising daily labour, materials, machinery and equipment
- Ensuring materials are used efficiently and wastage is minimised
- Liaising professionally with clients, site managers and other contractors
- Monitoring workmanship and ensuring Oakbrook's quality standards are maintained
- Ensuring projects are completed within agreed programmes and helping to achieve project budgets
- Completing required site paperwork and ensuring the team follows RAMS and safe working procedures
- Carrying out vehicle, machinery and equipment checks where required
- Identifying variations, additional works or potential site issues and reporting these promptly
- Helping train and develop less experienced members of the landscaping team
- Maintaining a professional, organised and safe site throughout the project
- Completing snagging and ensuring works are presented to a high standard before handover
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong practical landscaping experience who is dependable, organised and capable of taking genuine responsibility for both the team and the project being delivered.
Essential
- Proven experience within landscaping, construction landscaping or a similar role
- Strong practical experience in hard landscaping, soft landscaping and/or fencing
- Previous experience supervising or leading a small team
- Good understanding of ground preparation and landscaping construction techniques
- Experience installing fencing to a high standard
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience driving vehicles with trailers
- Ability to organise and manage works independently on site
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and site plans
- Good understanding of health and safety within a construction or landscaping environment
- Strong communication skills
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients and site management
- Ability to solve practical problems and make sensible decisions on site
- Positive attitude and willingness to lead by example
- Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
Desirable Qualifications & Experience

- Landscaping, horticultural or construction NVQ
- CSCS card
- SSSTS qualification
- 360 excavator ticket
- Forward tipping dumper ticket
- Agricultural tractor qualification
- CAT & Genny
- Street Works qualification
- First Aid qualification
- PA1 / PA6 pesticide qualifications
Additional training can be provided for the right candidate.
