Location: Manchester / Rochdale
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per year
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, 40 hours, In person
THE ROLE AT A GLANCE
- The services: two registrations, deliberately small - Our residential care home in Whalley Range (rated Requires Improvement), and our supported living service in Rochdale (newly registered, awaiting its first inspection) - supporting 5 people in total across both
- On-site management: each service has its own Deputy Managers and Team Leaders in post - you lead the leaders, you don't cover the rota
- Salary: £40,000-£60,000 (top of band for a current or former Registered Manager; strong Deputies ready to step up considered from £40,000)
- Bonuses: £1,000 for each service rated Good and £3,000 for each rated Outstanding - up to £6,000 across the two registrations - plus £500 for each new referral safely and happily embedded into the service
- On-call: phone/remote on-call included in salary; paid at your hourly rate if you attend in person
- Annual leave: 25 days + bank holidays, rising by one day for each year of service
- You report to: Louise Jackson, Operations Manager, working hand-in-hand with Lynne Platt, our Compliance Officer
AN HONEST PITCH
Rhombus Care Group supports adults with learning disabilities and autism through the Positive Behaviour Support model, and we'd rather tell you exactly where we are than sell you a glossy version. Our Residential property in Manchester was rated Requires Improvement at its last inspection, and our Rochdale supported living service is newly registered and awaiting its first. This role is about both: take an established home to Good, and put your name on a brand-new service's first rating.
What makes it achievable is the scale. Five people across two services, Deputy Managers and Team Leaders in post, a Compliance Officer supporting audits and inspection readiness, and an Operations Manager as your direct line. This is a leadership and quality role, not a firefighting one – and as the group grows, it grows into a group-level operations role, a progression route we'll put in writing.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Hold CQC registration for both services, owning quality, compliance, and inspection outcomes
- Lead, develop and hold to account the Deputy Managers and Team Leaders at each service
- Embed person-centred, PBS-led support and a culture that meets the Well-led and Effective criteria on substance, not paperwork
- Drive the improvement plan at Gabriel House and prepare Firswood for a strong first inspection, working with our Compliance Officer
- Oversee service budgets with the Directors, and support the growth of the service through new referrals – with careful matching and safe, well-planned transitions always coming before occupancy
WHAT WE OFFER
- £40,000-£60,000 depending on experience
- CQC outcome bonuses: £1,000 per service rated Good, £3,000 per service rated Outstanding – up to £6,000
- Growth bonus: £500 for each new referral you bring into the service, paid once the person is settled, safe and happy in their placement
- Funded qualifications and ongoing CPD, with a written progression pathway as the group grows
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, rising by one day per year of service
- Phone/remote on-call included in salary; in-person call-outs paid at your hourly rate
- Company pension, sick pay, free on-site parking
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Management experience in adult learning disabilities and/or autism services
- Working knowledge of CQC's assessment framework
- Experience supporting people with behaviours of concern within a PBS approach
- A leader who develops other managers
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
