Do you have the expertise to inspire students and advance research in Mechanical Engineering? If so this 12 month role, (starting in September 2026), could be ideal.
We’re looking for a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to join the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. You’ll contribute to high-quality, research-led teaching across Mechanical Engineering and related programmes, with a focus on Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, while developing research that supports the University’s internationally recognised research and innovation portfolio.
The School offers a welcoming and inclusive environment, recognised with a Silver Athena SWAN award. Teaching is strongly connected to research and includes substantial practical and laboratory-based learning, helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed for their future careers.
As Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering you can expect to be involved in:
- Delivering and developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Mechanical Engineering
- Contributing specialist expertise in Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer
- Undertaking independent research and producing high-quality research outputs
- Supporting student learning through assessment, feedback, supervision and pastoral support
What will you bring to the role?
- A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience or qualification
- An emerging record of internationally excellent research in Fluid Mechanics or Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer
- Experience developing and delivering teaching and assessment in Engineering
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support high-quality student learning
