We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support our catering team and help maintain the highest standards of food preparation, cleanliness and service.
About the Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure meals are prepared safely, kitchens remain spotless and residents receive an exceptional dining experience every day.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where teamwork, organisation and attention to detail are essential. You'll take pride in maintaining high standards while contributing to a warm and welcoming environment for residents and colleagues alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of nutritious, well-balanced meals that cater to residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including washing pots, pans, utensils and equipment.
- Follow HACCP procedures and comply with Food Safety, Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations at all times.
- Complete cleaning schedules accurately and ensure all kitchen areas remain hygienic and organised.
- Assist with stock rotation and storage to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
- Report any faults or damage to kitchen equipment promptly to the Head Chef, Maintenance Operative or General Manager.
- Show understanding and respect for residents, supporting their individual needs and preferences wherever possible.
- Assist the Lifestyle Team with food-related activities and special events.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as requested by the General Manager.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working as part of a busy and supportive team.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Is reliable, hardworking and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Has excellent communication skills and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Working Pattern
- 9:00am – 6:00pm
- 0 hours contract.
