We are seeking a Farm Shop Sales Assistant to join our team who will cover planned and unplanned absences, so the successful candidate will need to be flexible and have the ability to cover a range of shifts at short notice.
The shift pattern consists of Monday - Friday 06:30am - 1:30pm or 11:00am - 4:30pm and Saturday 7:15am - 12:30pm.
The position requires you to undertake daily operations and work within a small team of retail staff delivering excellent customer service and reporting to the Farm Shop Supervisor.
The ideal candidate will have some experience of retail with key reponsibilities for the position including:
- Ensure that the shop is operated in accordance with the Farm Shop objectives and procedures.
- Preparing the shop for operation – including organizing newspaper deliveries/orders; perform daily required checks and records; checking till float.
- Serving customers and recording any relevant purchases in the prescribed way.
- Ensure stocks are routinely replenished and stock date rotation adhered to. Remove and report any damages and/or out of date stock to the supervisor.
- Ensure that all deliveries are checked against delivery notes. Follow procedures for the receipt of all fresh goods (temperature check, allergen labelling etc).
- Preparation of cheese and meats for sale as required.
- Ensure that a high standard of hygiene is adhered to by completing daily and weekly prescribed tasks (Any weekly tasks that have not been achieved between Monday and Friday should be completed by weekend staff).
- Ensure that the Farm shop is a safe environment for members of the public and for staff. Address any spillages immediately and report any potential health and safety issues to the supervisor.
- Prepare the shop for end of shift closing. Prepare newspaper and magazine returns. Perform the daily sales analysis and reconciliation. Record any discrepancies. Secure the premises and set the alarm.
- To carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.
- Working within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.
