The Role
Contract type: Fixed Term – 1 year
Salary: £21,427 pa, including holiday entitlement.
Reporting to: Deputy Head (Academic)
Hours: 37.5 h p/w, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm this includes 30 minute daily-unpaid lunch break.
The Post
The key function of the role is to cover lessons for teaching staff in their absence. When not covering lessons the Cover Supervisor will be expected to engage in activities as detailed below.
Responsibilities when covering academic lessons:
· Supervise work that has been set in accordance with school policy, including COVID secure procedures.
· Liaise with teaching staff about work set for a class.
· Manage the behaviour of students to ensure a constructive environment whilst undertaking work.
· Respond to any questions from students about process and procedure.
· Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.
· Collect any completed work and resources after the lesson and return them to the appropriate teacher or subject leader.
· Report back, as appropriate, using the school's agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of students during the class, and any other issues arising.
· Student registration of a class.
When not covering lessons, the Cover Supervisor is expected to undertake other tasks including:
· Supervising students who have been isolated from their peers as a behaviour sanction.
· Taking part in whole school INSET activities to enhance job effectiveness.
· Accompany students on trips, visits and other educational activities.
· Undertake a ‘duty’ as part of the school’s duty system (including break and lunch).
· Supporting the work of classroom teachers when not deployed directly covering a class.
· Invigilating internal and/or external examinations.
· Supporting general school administration when demand for cover is low.
The post holder will be expected to undertake other tasks/duties as directed by the Headteacher that are commensurate with the responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor. This is a supervisory post rather than a teaching post and is open to applicants without a teaching qualification.
Pay: £21,427.00 per year
