Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC PPM Engineer to join our team, delivering planned preventative maintenance across a portfolio of residential and commercial sites. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, a methodical approach to servicing, and a genuine commitment to keeping clients' air conditioning and ventilation systems running safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing PPM properly — not just ticking boxes — and who can work confidently both solo and as part of a wider engineering team.
Duties
- Carry out scheduled PPM visits on air conditioning and ventilation systems across residential and commercial properties, in line with maintenance contracts and manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostic checks to identify faults, wear, or potential failures before they become breakdowns.
- Complete PPM tasks to a consistently high standard, ensuring compliance with industry standards and health & safety requirements.
- Carry out minor reactive repairs where needed and escalate more complex faults appropriately.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers or apprentices on-site as needed.
- Maintain accurate, detailed service records, including work carried out, parts used, and recommendations for further maintenance or remedial work.
- Liaise professionally with clients on-site, explaining findings and recommendations clearly.
- Stay current with industry developments, refrigerant regulations, and best practice in HVAC maintenance.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in HVAC/air conditioning PPM and maintenance is essential.
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot systems effectively.
- F-Gas qualification (Category 1) essential.
- Full UK driving licence is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
- Previous mentoring or supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client-facing work and accurate reporting.
- Well organised, with the ability to manage a PPM schedule across multiple sites.
We welcome applications from engineers dedicated to delivering exceptional, reliable service in HVAC maintenance.
