Payroll & Finance Administrator
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Healthii People are currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll & Finance Administrator to join a growing organisation to provide support across both payroll and the wider finance function.
This is a varied role, with roughly 50% of your time focused on payroll and the remaining 50% supporting the Finance Manager with day-to-day finance administration, reconciliations and reporting.
We're looking for someone who already has hands-on payroll experience and is comfortable managing the process accurately and to deadline. You'll need a good understanding of UK payroll, PAYE and HMRC requirements, along with strong attention to detail.
What you'll be doing
Payroll
- Processing weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Checking timesheets, overtime and other payroll information
- Processing salaries, overtime, statutory payments, deductions and adjustments
- Managing PAYE and RTI submissions in line with HMRC requirements
- Processing starters, leavers, salary changes and employee record updates
- Maintaining accurate and confidential payroll records
- Supporting workplace pension administration and auto-enrolment
- Assisting with year-end payroll processes, including P60s and reconciliations
- Dealing with payroll queries from employees and managers
- Keeping up to date with relevant payroll legislation
Finance
- Supporting the Finance Manager with day-to-day finance administration
- Assisting with bank and other finance reconciliations
- Supporting month-end processes and reporting
- Assisting with credit control and account monitoring
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
- Supporting audit preparation and compliance requirements
- Providing general support across the finance function when required
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working within payroll
- A good understanding of UK payroll legislation, PAYE and HMRC requirements
- Experience using payroll/accounting systems such as Sage, Xero or similar
- Good working knowledge of Excel
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise your workload
- Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information
- Good communication skills
A CIPP or AAT qualification would be an advantage but isn't essential. Experience with workplace pensions, auto-enrolment or supporting a wider finance team would also be beneficial.
