Salary: £25,192 - £27,152 per annum (pro-rated)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

The Gym Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the gym facility, ensuring a safe, engaging, and well-managed environment for students, staff, and community users.
The role involves supervising gym users, supporting fitness activities, maintaining equipment, and promoting participation in sport and wellbeing initiatives.
- Supervise access to the gym and ensure all users comply with facility rules
- Carry out inductions for new users and support fitness programme delivery
- Lead and supervise user activities, including group exercise sessions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming gym environment
- Set up, dismantle, and safely store gym and sporting equipment
- Ensure all equipment meets health and safety standards
- Carry out routine checks, maintenance, and stock control
- Process payments via cash register (cash, card, and cheque)
- Liaise with users to ensure their needs are met
- Maintain attendance records and activity tracking
- Support and organise sports and fitness activities for students and staff
- Promote participation through notice boards and campaigns
- Assist in planning and delivering fitness programmes and classes
- Conduct daily safety checks and facility inspections
- Report and manage maintenance or safety concerns
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and risk management policies
- Maintain professional standards and confidentiality
- Support equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices
- Undertake training, including First Aid, where required
- Carry out additional duties appropriate to the role
- Experience working in a health and fitness environment
- Experience delivering or supporting exercise classes
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to supervise groups and work independently
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to prioritize workload and use initiative
- Experience organizing sports activities or leagues
- Experience working with students or community groups
- Ability or willingness to drive a minibus
- Experience with outdoor sports or activities
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Up-to-date First Aid Certificate
- Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification
- Group exercise class qualifications (e.g. circuits, studio cycling)
- Coaching qualification (e.g. football, basketball, netball)
- Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification
- Assessor or Verifier qualification
- Enhanced DBS check required (renewed every 4 years)
- Role involves shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
