Empire Delivery is a fast-growing, dynamic logistics and distribution company based in Hatfield Heath. To support our rapid expansion and operational standards, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Warehouse Team Leader to drive depot efficiency, stock accuracy, and safety across our warehouse operations.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will take day-to-day ownership of warehouse workflow, team productivity, and site safety. You will lead floor operatives, oversee accurate scanning and inventory routines, enforce damage prevention protocols, and ensure seamless handovers between Day and Night shift crews.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Workflow: Direct and support floor operatives to ensure timely order picking, staging, vehicle loading, and unloading.
- Scan & Tech Compliance: Oversee the team’s use of handheld scanners to maintain 100% scanning accuracy, verify GREEN status routines, and ensure required photo logs are completed.
- Damage Prevention & Standards: Enforce Empire Delivery wrapping, blanketing, and load-securing protocols to prevent damage during transit.
- Depot & Yard Hygiene: Maintain high standards of site housekeeping, space optimization, floor line management, and waste stream sorting across the depot and pad.
- Cross-Shift Handovers: Coordinate clear, detailed shift handovers between Day Crew and Night Crew to maintain operational continuity.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Enforce safe manual handling, PPE compliance (high-vis, safety footwear), and hazard reporting across the warehouse floor.
Requirements & Skills
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Team Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Operative in a fast-paced logistics/distribution environment.
- Strong team leadership abilities with a hands-on, leading-by-example style.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems, handheld scanners, and digital logging routines.
- Excellent understanding of load safety, goods protection, and damage prevention techniques.
- Good communication skills with a clear focus on health and safety compliance.
