RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Recruitment and development of Sales Specialists (SS)
- Resourcing the team with quality, skilled Sales Specialists in a manner that is appropriate to the needs of the business
- To identify development needs and skill gaps that are beneficial to the individual and the organisation
- Recruitment of SSs in a timely manner consistent with HR guidelines
Maintain a high level of face to face or remote contact with SSs including accompanied customer sales calls/meetings

- Leadership & management of Sales Team towards delivery of sales target
- Produce and deliver against Sales Business Plan
- Effective management of customer facing budgets
- Championing a return on investment mentality within the Sales Team
- Effective management of activity levels to ensure effective calling patterns
- Ensuring and developing effective planning skills with the SSs to enable effective territory planning and working
- Champion use of sales data and other analytical tools to enable the SSs to monitor impact of activity and sales vs. target performance
- Develop & maintain ‘local’ personnel related data file relating to performance, appraisal, absence etc.
- Lead through performance management of the sales team to achieve optimal performance
Where appropriate initiate discipline procedures within HR guidelines

- Coaching and development of selling skills
- Champion selling skills within the Sales Team
- Lead by example
- Maintain sales team focus on agreed marketing campaigns and ensure campaigns and KSMs delivered at every opportunity
- Strive to achieve optimum performance in competencies

Develop with SS self development plans and career paths

- Supporting delivery and development of KSM and marketing campaigns

- Champion campaign feedback and competitor information
Liaise with the Marketing team to develop effective and motivating campaign briefing sessions.

- Qualifications
- Successfully passed ABPI examination
- Likely to be educated to degree standard or have relevant medical or commercial experience
- Be able to demonstrate continued excellence in sales performance
- Understands and can apply account/territory business management skills
- Able to assimilate and communicate highly technical data
- Excellent organisational skills
- Success orientated outlook - self starter, independent, able to make things happen
- A creator of opportunities, able to shape solutions to meet customer needs.

Other relevant considerations
This role involves extensive travel and being away from home is required.
For this specific Sales Manager role, we require previous relevant and recent Management experience, therefore it is not suited to a Sales representative wanting their first move into Sales Management. The successful candidate will be required to hit the ground running with building a whole new sales team, previous experience of building a team is essential.
