Job Description:
Role Overview
As an Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering repair, corrective maintenance, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the site, working as part of a supportive and growing engineering team.
Hours: 9pm - 6am or 9pm - 7am
Monday to Friday
Voluntary overtime on weekends at Time + 1/4
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out engineering repairs, PPMs, audit actions, and work request follow-ups
- Manage your own workload and ensure effective handover between shifts
- Apply Health & Safety and Food Safety standards to all work
- Support colleagues and contribute to achieving team KPIs and targets
- Manage external contractors on site, ensuring safety and housekeeping standards are maintained
- Ensure machinery and equipment meet site standards, escalating issues where necessary
- Control and manage engineering spares to maintain effective stock levels
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across engineering areas
- Communicate effectively with engineering colleagues, management, and other departments regarding breakdowns and engineering activities
Candidate Requirements/Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR
- Completion of a 4-year approved technical apprenticeship
- Consideration given to 3rd and 4th year apprentices and equivalent experience
Experience
- Engineers: Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience with packing machines, conveyors, mixers, hydraulics, or similar equipment
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to challenge constructively and professionally
- Understanding of environmental responsibilities
- Food manufacturing experience desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of Pirana systems is desirable
- Welding skills are an advantage (training provided)
