The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Forge Shift Manager to join our Operations team in Lincoln. Working on a rotating 3-shift basis, you will support the safe and efficient forging of components in line with detailed specifications, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- To support Forge Manager in pursuing business objectives in terms of output, quality and cost.
- To manage the forge unit on shift so that production schedules and customer needs are met whilst continually improving processes in order to achieve higher performance.
- Lead and motivate the team during your shift.
- Manage staffing levels, break schedules and task allocation
- To ensure that agreed customer delivery times are achieved and that customers receive a high standard of service at all times.
- To schedule resources in order to meet production requirements and ensure the organisation of priorities to achieve the plan.
- To ensure that all operations under your area of control are managed effectively.
- To participate, identify, develop and implement continuous improvement activities throughout the Forge Unit.
- To undertake any other duties specified by the Operations Director and Forge Manager to fulfil the business needs.
About You
Essential:
- Previous experience working in a heavy industrial or engineering environment
- Experience of working in a safety critical environment
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
- Leadership
- Reliable, adaptable, and flexible with working hours
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Manufacturing management experience, including people management
- Knowledge of current manufacturing techniques. quality systems and continuous improvement.
- Good level of financial awareness, this ideally should include budgeting and forecasting experience
- Sound PC skills in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- High level of verbal ability.
- High degree of flexibility to ensure the business meets targets
- Ideally degree qualified although this is not a prerequisite.
Desirable:
- FLT licence or other heavy plant

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires the jobholder to obtain certain authorisation or security clearances that will require interface with local and U.S. government authorities.
