RKA Logistics Ltd are seeking a skilled and reliable class 2 Tramping Truck Driver to join our small family run business and team.
You will need to be over 25, have no points on your licence and have a minimum of 2 years experience due to insurance requirements.
You will be crucial to our family business and we will treat you superbly well and support you on your journey with us, we know how hard drivers work and especially when you are away from home all week and it is vital we have a superb working relationship.
You will be comfortable driving anywhere within the UK and will be away Monday to Friday with the occasional run in on a Saturday where needed, you must be prepared to start early in the morning where required from 4-5AM.
You will be renumerated at £16 per hour, a minimum of 50 hours per week contracted and will be paid £16 per hour for all hours worked over 50, you will be paid £25 per night out stay and £5 per night out meal allowance, in addition you will also receive a performance bonus linked to accident, attendance, tachograph compliance and earning bonus discussed on interview and after completing your probation period but with a bonus payable of £100 monthly.
You will treat your Lorry like your second home and look after it as we will look after you, you will be the only driver in your vehicle and your vehicle will be home from home.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety and efficiency while delivering goods to various locations. This role requires the ability to operate an 18 tonne rigid curtain side with tail lift lorry and manage deliveries effectively, ensuring that all cargo is transported securely and on time.
Duties
- Operate your lorry in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and functionality.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is secured properly for transport.
- Plan routes efficiently to optimise delivery times while adhering to schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered on the road.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driving licence (C+E or equivalent) is essential minimum 2 years.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for driving a lorry.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy items when necessary.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism on the road.
