Due to continued growth and investment, they are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join their engineering team.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Process Engineering Supervisor, the Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimising, and sustaining manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
The successful candidate will play a key role in continuous improvement activities, process development, defect reduction, and new product introductions, whilst supporting the wider business through technical expertise, coaching, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote Health, Safety and Environmental standards across the department and wider site.
- Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor, providing technical support and leadership for manufacturing processes.
- Diagnose process and product defects, identifying key process variables and implementing corrective actions.
- Work closely with Production teams to ensure manufacturing processes achieve delivery, quality, and efficiency targets.
- Participate in daily operational meetings and provide technical process representation.
- Develop, maintain, and improve process documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Manage and update PFMEA documentation, driving risk reduction and process improvement activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements focused on OEE enhancement, waste reduction, and cost avoidance.
- Lead continuous improvement projects across manufacturing operations.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement robust corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to colleagues and production teams.
- Support new product introductions, production trials, process validation activities, and launch programmes.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support process development and technological advancement.
- Support process change management activities and continuous process optimisation initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience within a manufacturing process engineering role.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience creating and maintaining Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
- Continuous Improvement experience.
- Knowledge of Poka-Yoke (error-proofing) methodologies.
- Understanding of process controls and parameter management.
- Experience with PFMEA development and management.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and OEE improvement.
- Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills (8D methodology).
- Experience implementing process changes and driving operational improvements.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and support team development.
- Methodical approach to experimentation, process validation, and problem-solving.
Desirable
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline).
- Experience with automated manufacturing equipment and robotics.
- Understanding of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and SMED methodologies.
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Exposure to APQP, PPAP, and Run at Rate activities.
- Experience with traceability systems.
- Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical fault-finding knowledge.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Understanding of manufacturing materials and process interactions.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capability.
