This role will be responsible for the planning, implementation,
monitoring, and continuous improvement of all infection prevention and control (IPC) systems within
the practice. The position ensures full compliance with regulatory requirements, including CQC
standards, HTM 01-05, the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Code of Practice), and all associated
clinical governance frameworks.
The duties of the role include conducting regular walk-through inspections of all clinical and nonclinical areas; ensuring compliance with HTM 01-05 (Decontamination in Primary Care Dental
Practices); overseeing correct hand hygiene protocols, PPE standards, and cross-contamination
prevention procedures; ensuring safe sharps management, waste segregation, and disposal; and
developing, implementing, and reviewing the practice’s Infection Control Policy.
