As Duty Manager, you'll be the engine room of our daily transport operation, planning routes, leading drivers, and making sure every delivery hits its mark, safely and on budget. You'll be the go-to person drivers trust, clients rely on, and your team looks to when things get busy.
A flavour of your day-to-day:
- Plan and coordinate routes and schedules that keep efficiency high and costs down
- Lead, brief, and support a team of drivers — you're their first point of contact
- Keep communication flowing between drivers, clients, and internal teams
- Own accurate records: timesheets, driver logs, nights out, expenses
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, PMI, and MOT schedules with the VMU
- Champion compliance and safety, audits, checks, and quick corrective action
- Think on your feet when the unexpected happens (because in logistics, it always does)
- Run performance reviews, team meetings, and training that actually develops people
- Track KPIs and report on what's working,and fix what isn't
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years' experience in transport coordination, logistics, or similar
- Sharp organisational and time-management skills
- Confident, clear communication — with drivers, clients, and your team
- Comfort with TMS and GPS tracking software
- A cool head under pressure and a genuine knack for problem-solving
- Solid knowledge of transport regulations, safety, and hours-of-service rules
- HGV licence — desirable, not essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Integrity, discretion, and a proactive, can-do approach
