Warehouse Assistant – Temporary Position
We are a small Family run busy business looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Warehouse Assistant to take care of the day-to-day running of our warehouse. This will initially be a temporary position, with the possibility of becoming permanent depending on the needs of the business.
This would be a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their working career who wants to gain practical warehouse and stock experience. You do not need years of warehouse experience – being dependable, organised, willing to learn and able to use your initiative is more important.
You will be the main person looking after the warehouse, but you will be working as part of a small team and supporting the different departments throughout the day. Full training will be provided.
Main Responsibilities
● Making and preparing boxes and packaging ready for the departments that need them.
● Running sleeves through the sleeving machine as required and ensuring they are ready for production.
● Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy, organised and safe.
● Helping with regular stock takes and accurately recording stock levels.
● Keeping an eye on stock levels and letting the relevant person know when items are running low.
● Taking in deliveries and checking what has arrived.
● Writing deliveries into the delivery book and completing the relevant paperwork.
● Putting incoming stock away in the correct locations.
● Replenishing stock throughout the working day.
● Making sure each department has the stock, packaging and materials it needs.
● Moving stock between warehouse and production areas when required.
● Keeping stock organised and correctly rotated.
● Reporting stock discrepancies, damaged goods or shortages.
● Helping the team with other general warehouse duties when required.
What We’re Looking For
We are not necessarily looking for someone with lots of previous experience. We are looking for someone with the right attitude who can learn the role and gradually take ownership of the warehouse.
The ideal person will be someone who notices what needs doing and gets on with it rather than needing to be given a job every few minutes.
You will need to be:
● Reliable and punctual.
● Well organised.
● Happy with a hands-on and physically active role.
● Willing to learn and follow instructions.
● Able to work independently once trained and use their own initiative.
● Accurate when counting stock and completing paperwork.
● Good at communicating with different departments.
● Able to prioritise jobs throughout the day.
● Someone who takes pride in keeping things clean, organised and running smoothly.
This is a varied role in a small business, so no two days will be exactly the same. You’ll essentially become our warehouse runner, keeping everything organised behind the scenes and making sure the team has what it needs to keep the business moving.
