Doncaster Sheffield Airport is entering a transformative period as preparations continue for its planned reopening, following its closure in 2022 and sustained regional efforts to restore aviation activity to the site. Local partners and aviation specialists have been working together to rebuild the operational foundation required for a safe return to service.
About the role
Doncaster Sheffield Airport is engaged in establishing controlled airspace and Air Traffic Service for the safe movement of aircraft operations. To support this service, we are seeking experienced Air Traffic Engineers to build, a small dedicated, multi-skilled Air Traffic Engineering Department.
As an Air Traffic Engineer, you will provide engineering and technical support, conduct fault diagnosis and rectification and undertake routine servicing and maintenance to ensure the safe operation of navigational, communication and meteorological systems. The successful candidate shall ideally have experience maintaining Primary/secondary Radar, ILS, DME, NDB, VCCS, VHF/UHF Communications and meteorological systems.
Key Responsibilities.
- To maintain all ATS equipment ensuring it meets all statutory and regulatory requirements (CAP 670, ICAO Annex 10, EASA Regulations).
- Monitor the status of systems and potential impairment of service.
- Ensure personal “Competence“ is maintained in respect of safety related systems and equipment.
- Maintain On-the-Job Training Instructor (OJTI) and Assessor endorsements.
- Work within a shift pattern, providing on site and on call cover 24hrs/ 365 days a year.
- Provide assistance to the Manager of Air Traffic Engineering or Head of Air Traffic Services for projects bringing into service new equipment/systems
- Produce risk assessments and document updates required as a result of changes to policies and procedures.
- Report & investigate equipment failure and safety occurrences.
- Represent or deputise for the Manager of Air traffic Engineering in his absence at airport meetings or events relating to safety, security and staff wellbeing.
- Assist the Manager of Air traffic Engineering with the development of procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Support and mentor Apprentices within their development program

You are adaptable, possessing a drive for improvement, excellent communication and organisational skills in order to prioritise workload challenges to meet safety and operational objectives. You must be reliable, self-motivated, proactive & capable of working under pressure to high standards as part of a team or on your own direction.
