Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Shift Manager to oversee daily operations during evening shifts in our busy hospitality venue. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a solid background in food and beverage service, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests. The successful applicant will play a key role in managing the team, coordinating service, and upholding the high standards of our establishment.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate bar staff during shift to ensure efficient service delivery
- Oversee food preparation and ensure adherence to food safety regulations
- Manage the bar area, including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness
- Assist with food and drink orders, ensuring accuracy and timely service
- Lead by example in delivering excellent hospitality and customer service
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and support staff development
- Handle customer enquiries or complaints professionally to maintain guest satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and health & safety regulations
- Collaborate with kitchen staff on food production processes when necessary
- Organise shift rotas and delegate tasks effectively to optimise workflow
Requirements
- Proven experience in restaurant or hospitality management, preferably within a bar or pub environment
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety standards
- Demonstrable supervisory experience with team management skills
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, food production, and kitchen operations
- Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff and foster teamwork
- Previous experience in serving or hospitality roles such as barista or hotel service is advantageous
- Familiarity with health & safety legislation relevant to food handling and alcohol licensing
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- A professional attitude with excellent communication skills
- Relevant qualifications in hospitality management or food safety are desirable
