About the Role
F J Booth Construction Ltd is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to lead the successful delivery of steelwork construction projects across our portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated construction professional with strong leadership skills and experience managing complex industrial, infrastructure, energy, or waste-to-energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, promoting a positive safety culture across all activities.
- Plan, monitor and manage project programmes, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor resources to optimise project performance.
- Deliver projects in accordance with contract specifications, technical requirements and client expectations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks and progress meetings.
- Manage site documentation, permits, RAMS, inspections and project records.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, local authorities and internal departments.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of site personnel.
- Monitor project costs and resource utilisation, contributing to efficient project delivery.
- Ensure environmental compliance and sustainable working practices are maintained throughout project execution.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- SMSTS qualification.
- CSCS Card (Management Level or equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Site Manager role within construction, civil engineering, industrial or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Experience preparing and managing health and safety documentation, including RAMS and site records.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors effectively.
- Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience chairing site meetings and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
- A trade background or relevant construction qualification.
Desirable
- Experience delivering waste-to-energy, energy-from-waste (EfW), renewable energy, industrial process, or heavy engineering projects.
- BTEC Diploma in Construction, NVQ Level 4/6 in Construction Site Management, HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Temporary Works or Appointed Person qualifications.
- Experience working within COMAH, industrial, or energy-sector environments.
