Experienced carer? Tired of rushing across a county to reach your next call?
Safi Homecare is building a South Leicestershire team with rounds that stay local. We are looking for Domiciliary Care Assistants to support people in their own homes across Blaby, Narborough, Whetstone and Countesthorpe.
Villages covered
Blaby, Narborough, Littlethorpe, Enderby, Whetstone, Cosby, Countesthorpe, Glen Parva and the surrounding lanes.
Why this job is different
Two reasons our carers give when we ask them.
The first is continuity. We keep you with the same service users on the same round. You are not handed a fresh list every morning. Over a few weeks you get to know people properly, and they get to know you which is when the care actually gets good.
The second is clinical backing. Our Registered Manager is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. If you ring about a chest that sounds wrong or a wound that is not healing, you are speaking to someone who knows what to do with that information.
Who we support
We visit older people living with dementia, adults settling back at home after a hospital admission or a fall, people living with diabetes, Parkinson's, stroke or COPD, and adults with physical disabilities who live independently.
Much of our South Leicestershire work is reablement, commissioned by Leicestershire County Council. It is short-term, goal-focused support that helps people get back on their feet after illness or injury, and you see the results of your own work within weeks.
Day to day you will be
-
Turning up as a friendly, familiar face, with time to talk while you work
-
Encouraging independence, doing things alongside people rather than for them
-
Helping people hold on to the routines and interests that make the day theirs
-
Providing personal care, washing, dressing and continence support with dignity
-
Prompting and administering medication
-
Making meals and drinks, and keeping an eye on appetite and fluids
-
Supporting mobility and carrying out safe moving and handling
-
Helping with light housework and shopping
-
Recording each visit clearly on our digital care system
You will often be the first person to notice when something is not right. That is one of the most valuable things you do.
Experience and training
You will need previous paid experience in care community, residential, supported living or hospital and you should already be confident delivering personal care alone in someone's home.
We build on that with a full paid induction, Care Certificate completion or refresh, and training in moving and handling, medication, dementia care and reablement. You will have regular supervision, an annual appraisal, and support to progress into senior roles or take on QCF and specialist qualifications.
Pay and benefits
£13.00 to £13.50 per hour, paid travel time, mileage, holiday pay, pension, refer-a-friend bonus, uniform and DBS.
Driving
A driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as this round covers several villages.
