The Role
Love Trees? Want to make a real difference to your local environment? Join our Greenspace team as a Tree Officer and help shape the future of North Herts through delivering day-to-day management of the Council’s tree stock by coordinating works, responding to enquiries and maintaining accurate records, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant arboriculture operations.
The Experience you will bring
We are looking for someone with good knowledge and relevant qualifications within the arboriculture sector and experience in a tree or arboricultural role. You will be organized, able to manage a varied workload and confident communicating with contractors, colleagues and members of the public. If you are organised, proactive and enjoy working with people, we’d love to hear from you
You will enjoy finding practical solutions providing excellent customer service and helping to manage North Herts tree assets. Experience of working with tree contractors or within a local authority environment would be an advantage, but above all we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about trees.

We are changing
North Herts Council (NHC) is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). If you are employed by NHC on 1 April 2028, it is expected that the majority of roles will transfer to the newly-created unitary councils on existing terms and conditions under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings – Protection of Employment) principles.
LGR is one of the biggest changes in local government we will face in a generation. It will reshape how we work and how services are organised and gives us a real opportunity to build something better.
