Job Purpose
We are looking for a hands-on Production line Supervisor to lead our production team in a chemical manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to the required quality standard, while also supporting machine setup, line changeovers, stock accuracy, staff training and day-to-day improvement of production performance.
This is a shop-floor leadership role. The successful candidate will be expected to understand the production lines, support operators, resolve day-to-day issues and make sure the right standards are followed across output, safety, quality, paperwork and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership and Performance
· Lead, support and coordinate the production team on a day-to-day basis.
· Plan and allocate work so production targets and priorities are achieved.
· Monitor production output, downtime, labour efficiency, waste, quality issues and other key KPIs.
· Report performance, risks and improvement actions to the Plant Manager.
· Set clear expectations for attendance, conduct, productivity, quality and housekeeping.
Machine Setup and Technical Support
· Oversee and support the setup of filling lines, cappers, labellers, conveyors, wipes lines and other production equipment.
· Optimise machine settings across fillers, cappers, labellers and associated equipment to improve reliability, output and line efficiency.
· Support line changeovers, product changeovers, washouts and troubleshooting during production.
· Work with Engineering where required on day-to-day maintenance, adjustments and recurring machine issues.
· Ensure machine settings, setup information and standard methods are recorded, maintained and followed.
ERP, Stock Accuracy and Paperwork
· Use our ERP system to review work orders, stock levels, production requirements and related information.
· Ensure production activity is recorded accurately on the system so stock levels remain correct.
· Investigate and help resolve stock discrepancies linked to production, usage, waste or system transactions.
· Ensure production paperwork, batch records, checks and line documentation are completed accurately and on time.
Health, Safety, Quality and Housekeeping
· Ensure all production work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures, including PPE, chemical handling, spill response, isolation and washout requirements.
· Maintain quality standards by ensuring products are filled, capped, labelled, packed and documented correctly.
· Support investigations into safety incidents, near misses, quality issues, downtime and recurring production problems.
· Maintain good housekeeping across production lines, equipment areas and workstations.
· Keep the production area clean, organised, safe and audit-ready.
Training and Improvement
· Train and coach operators on correct machine operation, setup, checks, basic adjustments and first-line troubleshooting.
· Help develop simple SOPs, setup sheets, checklists and visual standards where required.
· Identify skills gaps and support the development of a more capable and consistent production team.
· Drive practical improvements in safety, quality, line performance, changeover time, waste reduction and operator capability.
Skills and Experience
· Experience in a production, manufacturing, chemical, FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, household products or similar environment.
· Previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating a production team.
· Practical understanding of production machinery, line setup, changeovers and troubleshooting.
· Confident using ERP, stock control or production systems; experience with Galileo would be advantageous.
· Good understanding of health and safety, quality standards and accurate production paperwork.
· Able to communicate clearly with operators, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Planning and management.

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
