Job Overview & Key Responsibilities
As a Care Support Worker / Health Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality care in accordance with best practices, legislative requirements, and agreed standards. You will be deployed to different care homes, adapting flexibly to ensure service users maintain their personal interests and enjoy the best possible quality of life.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Person-Centered Care: Assisting service users with daily living tasks, including bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, and using the bathroom.
- Well-being & Engagement: Providing activities to stimulate and engage service users, serving meals, and supporting their overall physical and emotional comfort.
- Domestic & Practical Support: Assisting with light cleaning, meal preparation, paying bills, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Clinical Monitoring & Records: Monitoring conditions (taking temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight) and meticulously maintaining care plans and daily recordings.
- Communication & Collaboration: Working alongside multi-disciplinary teams, building rapport with families, and immediately escalating changes in service user needs to Senior Staff or Managers.
- Safety & Compliance: Performing necessary health and safety checks (including fire drills and risk assessments) and completing all mandatory induction and specialized training.
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria:
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Experience: Proven experience caring for vulnerable individuals, including those with complex needs.
- Skills: Proficient record-keeping abilities, quick problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work independently in a service user's home when required.
- Values: A deep commitment to dignity, respect, empathy, and human rights.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience working within a Healthcare Agency.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to orientate and induct new staff members.
