Concept Accountancy has been established in Newcastle since 2014, working with owner-managed businesses across the UK, typically limited companies with turnovers between £250k and £5m, across a wide range of sectors.
We are growing and looking for an accountant who is comfortable working directly with clients and wants to be part of a more proactive, modern practice.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role with real variety - you'll be working across a broad portfolio of SME clients, leading on management accounts and year-end work, and playing an active part in client relationships.
Alongside the technical work, this role has a genuine business development dimension. We want someone who's comfortable representing the firm externally - whether that's building referral relationships, attending networking events, or playing a key role in bringing new clients on board. Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
- Preparation and review of management accounts - monthly or quarterly depending on client needs
- Drafting corporation tax computations and supporting with personal tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact
- Providing commercial insight and financial analysis to support client decision-making
- Developing referral relationships and attending networking events to support firm growth
- Playing an active role in new client on-boarding - from initial meetings through to getting them set up
- Supporting junior team members where appropriate
What We're Looking For
- AAT qualified or equivalent
- Solid practice background - ideally 3+ years in a UK accountancy firm
- Strong management accounts experience - this is a core part of the role
- Technically confident across accounts preparation, tax, and VAT
- A self-starter who can manage their own workload and deadlines
- Personable and confident communicator - you'll be client-facing from day one
- Comfortable with, or genuinely interested in, the business development side of practice life
- Proficient with cloud accounting software, including Xero, Sage 50 and Sage 200
