About The Real Birth Company
The Real Birth Company is an established UK digital health company working across the NHS, health and social care and family services.
Our digital antenatal education programme, RealBirth, supports maternity and family services to provide accessible, evidence-based education and information to expectant parents.
We already work with NHS maternity services and other organisations across the UK and are looking for a proactive Sales Development Representative to help us introduce RealBirth to many more services.
The role
We are looking for a confident and proactive Sales Development Representative to join our commercial team.
This is an outbound B2B sales role with a clear purpose: to make new contacts, start conversations, generate interest and bring qualified opportunities into our sales pipeline.
A significant part of your working day will involve picking up the telephone and speaking to people you haven't spoken to before.
You will be contacting organisations across the NHS, health and social care, family hubs and other maternity and family services.
You won't always know who the right person is when you first make contact. We need someone who is comfortable calling an organisation, asking questions, finding out how their services currently work and identifying the people involved in making decisions.
Once you've found the right people, you'll introduce RealBirth, establish whether there is potential interest, send relevant information and invite them to meetings or demonstrations.
You'll then follow up consistently and nurture the relationship until there is either a qualified opportunity to progress into our sales pipeline or a clear reason not to pursue it further.
What you'll be doing
- Proactively contacting new organisations across the NHS, health and social care, family hubs and other maternity and family services
- Making cold and warm outbound B2B telephone calls every day
- Finding and identifying the correct contacts and decision-makers within organisations
- Speaking confidently and professionally with clinical professionals, service leads, commissioners and senior decision-makers
- Asking questions to understand what services organisations currently provide
- Identifying potential needs and opportunities for RealBirth
- Introducing RealBirth and generating initial interest
- Building new relationships with prospective customers
- Following up regularly by telephone and email
- Sending relevant information following conversations
- Inviting prospective customers to meetings, demonstrations and events
- Qualifying potential opportunities and bringing suitable prospects into our sales pipeline
- Scheduling qualified meetings for the wider sales team
- Maintaining accurate records of contacts, conversations, follow-ups and opportunities within our CRM
- Managing your own daily outbound activity and follow-up schedule
- Tracking progress against agreed sales development targets
- Reporting on activity, conversations, qualified opportunities and pipeline development
- Working closely with our Sales Account Manager and CEO as opportunities develop
Who we're looking for
You must be comfortable making outbound telephone calls every day. Telephone prospecting is a core part of this position.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in outbound B2B sales, sales development, telesales, appointment setting or business development
- Is confident picking up the telephone and speaking to people they haven't met before
- Enjoys starting conversations and developing new relationships
- Is naturally curious and asks good questions
- Is comfortable finding their way through an organisation to reach the right person
- Is persistent when the first approach doesn't work
- Can work independently and manage their own daily sales activity
- Is comfortable working towards clear daily and weekly targets
- Communicates confidently and professionally with clinical and senior professionals
- Is organised and consistent with follow-ups
- Listens well and can recognise where there may be a genuine opportunity
- Is comfortable using CRM software to manage contacts and opportunities
- Enjoys working as part of a small and growing team
Previous experience within healthcare, the NHS, health and social care or the public sector would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
You don't need clinical experience. We will provide training to help you understand RealBirth, our customers and the sectors we work within.
What success looks like
This isn't a role where success is measured by simply sending large numbers of emails.
Success means creating conversations.
We want someone who will consistently make new contacts, find the right people within prospective organisations, understand what they currently do and identify where there may be an opportunity for RealBirth.
Your performance will be measured through a combination of outbound activity, meaningful conversations, new contacts established, qualified meetings, opportunities created and contribution to the sales pipeline.
We care about the quality of those conversations as well as the volume of activity.
Working with us
This is an office-based role, working closely with our commercial and wider team.
You'll receive training on RealBirth, our customers and the health and maternity landscape, alongside ongoing support as you develop your knowledge of the sector.
Both full-time and part-time and maternity cover opportunities are available. We are interested in finding the right person and are open to discussing working hours with suitable candidates.
For part-time positions, salary, OTE and targets will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis according to agreed working hours.
You'll be joining an established company with an existing customer base and a product already being used across UK maternity and family services.
This is an opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys outbound B2B sales to take ownership of the top of our sales funnel and play an important role in the next stage of our growth.
