Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and production (Italian preferably) with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As a Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring that our guests receive exceptional dining experiences.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in the planning and execution of menus, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Oversee food preparation processes to ensure adherence to food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock control.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order and report any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery during busy periods.
- Assist in the development of new recipes and menu items, contributing innovative ideas to enhance our culinary offerings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team of cooks.
- Proficient in various cooking techniques and cuisines, demonstrating versatility in food preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on teamwork.
- A passion for culinary arts and a desire to continually improve skills and knowledge within the field.
