As both businesses continue to scale, we are strengthening our commercial capability and are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take ownership of inbound sales, proposals, quotations and opportunity management.
This is not a cold-calling or high-volume telesales position.
The role is focused on managing qualified enquiries, understanding prospective clients’ needs and helping them select the right service. You will work closely with the leadership team and our technical and compliance specialists to develop opportunities into long-term client relationships.
The Role
This is a commercially important position responsible for managing the sales process across two complementary professional services businesses.
You will oversee opportunities from the initial enquiry through discovery, proposal, follow-up, negotiation and handover to the delivery team.
You will act as the main commercial point of contact for prospective clients, ensuring enquiries are handled professionally, proposals are issued promptly and opportunities are followed through consistently.
The successful candidate will become a key member of the management team and will directly influence the growth and commercial development of both businesses.
The role would suit an experienced B2B sales or account management professional who is comfortable selling consultative, technical or regulated services rather than physical products.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Sales and Opportunity Management
- Manage qualified inbound enquiries across both businesses
- Respond promptly and professionally to prospective clients
- Conduct discovery meetings to understand business requirements, priorities and risks
- Qualify opportunities based on need, suitability, budget, timescale and decision-making process
- Help prospective clients identify the most appropriate service or package
- Maintain regular communication throughout the sales process
Quotations and Proposals
- Prepare and issue accurate quotations, proposals and service recommendations
- Coordinate input from technical, cyber security, compliance and data protection specialists
- Ensure proposals clearly explain the recommended solution, scope, value and commercial terms
- Manage proposal follow-up and maintain momentum with prospective clients
- Support contract discussions and commercial negotiations
- Coordinate tender and procurement responses where required
Pipeline and CRM Management
- Maintain accurate and complete CRM records
- Manage the sales pipeline from initial enquiry through to completion
- Record next actions, decision dates, opportunity values and expected close dates
- Ensure no qualified opportunity is left without appropriate follow-up
- Produce monthly pipeline, conversion and sales performance reporting
- Monitor quotation turnaround times, sales cycles and proposal outcome
Commercial Development
- Identify opportunities to improve conversion rates, proposal quality and the client buying experience
- Develop and improve proposal templates, sales materials and commercial processes
- Identify appropriate cross-sell and upsell opportunities across the two businesses
- Support the development of service packages, pricing structures and commercial propositions
- Provide market and client feedback to the leadership team
- Help build a structured, measurable and scalable sales function
Client and Internal Relationship
- Build trusted relationships with prospective and existing clients
- Work closely with technical and compliance specialists during complex opportunities
- Ensure clear handover of new clients to the relevant service delivery team
- Support account reviews and renewal discussions where appropriate
- Represent both businesses professionally during meetings, presentations and commercial discussions
Required Experience
We are looking for someone with strong commercial judgement and demonstrable B2B sales experience, ideally including:
- At least three years’ experience in B2B sales, business development, account management or commercial management
- Experience selling professional, technical, managed or consultancy services
- Experience managing inbound enquiries and consultative sales opportunities
- Strong discovery, qualification and relationship-management skills
- Experience preparing quotations, proposals or tender responses
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence discussing pricing, value and contract terms
- Experience using a CRM system to manage opportunities and reporting
- A structured and consistent approach to follow-up
- Confidence communicating with business owners, directors and senior decision-makers
- Ability to manage opportunities involving substantial recurring or six-figure annual contract values
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:
- Managed IT services
- Cyber security services
- Data protection or GDPR
- Regulatory compliance
- Governance, risk and compliance
- Microsoft 365
- ISO standards
- Outsourced professional services
- Recurring-revenue or retained service models
- Working across more than one business or service division
Direct technical expertise is not essential. However, you must be comfortable learning technical and regulated services and translating specialist information into clear commercial recommendations.

The Person
We are looking for someone who is commercially confident without being overly aggressive.
You should be able to listen carefully, ask effective questions and guide prospective clients towards the right decision. You will need to balance strong sales discipline with a professional and consultative approach.
You should also be comfortable taking ownership. This means maintaining accurate records, following up consistently, progressing opportunities and ensuring that prospective clients receive a high-quality experience from their first enquiry through to appointment.
